Redlands Key
Existing members who haven't sent their old keys back yet, the lock on the Redlands gate will be changed on the evening of the 15th June. If you still haven't changed your key yet speak Steve Bailey to arrange a new key.

Soutlake Draw
There was a good turnout for last nights opening night draw with as many members entering the draw as spectators just down for the social. Good luck in your preparations for the week ahead up until the opening night.

Redlands Pairs Carp Match Results
The Redalnds Pairs Carp Match was won by Nick Harrison and Doug Caiger with 3 fish for 52lb 12oz, Mark Cripps and James Hembrow were second with 2 fish for 39lb and Graham Alexander and Clive Martin with 1 fish at 27lb 4oz.

Redlands
Friday June 1st 2007 to Sunday 3rd. This will be a pairs match as before please contact Martin Hopgood as before.
Southlake
Friday 31st August to Sunday September 2nd. This will be a singles match and this time we will be raising funds for charity, so you will need to get some sponsors. Again as before please contact Martin for all the details of the above matches.

E-mail Addresses
Our e-mail addresses have changed recently, no this is not to confuse you or prevent you from contacting us but to hopefully reduce the ammount of spam e-mail we receive. Which was in the hundreds per e-mail address, per day and just got too annoying. None of the e-mail addresses shown on the website are linked so you will have to cut and paste them into the "To" field on your e-mails.

Redlands
With the warm weather upon us, the fish at Redlands are showing signs of getting ready to spawn. As soon as the fish start to spawn the lake will be closed for approximately 2 weeks. For all those members who are looking to fish over the next few weeks, please exercise common sense when deciding whether to fish or not in order to protect the welfare of our fish stocks.

AGM

Work Parties

Carp Match
The Carp Match was won by Mark Kripps, second was Mark Hewitt. A number of fish were caught to total weight of 65lb .

Redlands Carp Match Still Places Available
There are still places available for the Redlands Carp Match on the weekend of Friday 16th to Sunday 18th March. There will be no fishing on Redlands except for the Carp Match during this weekend other than for those participating in the match.

Redlands Carp Match
There is going to be a Carp Match held at Redlands on the weekend of Friday 16th March until Sunday 18th March, with the draw taking place 5-5.30pm on the Friday. This will be a singles match limited to between 12 and 14 anglers. Those wishing to fish the match should call Martin Hopgood to put your names down. There will be a BBQ on the Saturday afternoon so even if your not fishing come along for a bit of a social.

Well thanks to a few weeks of heavy rain, Redlands has water. And lots of it.

Redlands Stocking
We received a stocking of fish today 26 carp between 4lb to 9lb , 60 carp around the ½lb mark and about 80 tench 2 to 3 inches long. There are some absolute crackers to, roll on the next few years.

Pike match changes
Martin has moved the pike match due to held at Redlands on 17th December to Tippings and also the one for Southlake on 11th February to Tippings. Any further information can be got from Martin, his number is on your match card.

Carp match
7 anglers braved the wet weather to fish the match at Redlands in October, the winner had 3 Carp for 63lb the biggest was 26lb. Over £100.00 was raised for club funds, thanks to all who attended, i'm sure this will become an annual event. Full details can be found on the latest newsletter via the link on the web site.

Carp Match Date
The date for the next carp match as mentioned below is Saturday 21st October to Sunday 22nd October 2006. The draw will take place at 9am on the saturday and you will fish from 10am untill 2pm on the Sunday. For further details and to book in please contact Martin Hopgood.

Blenheim Palace
A good day was had and the 4 boats that reported in had a total weight of 202lb with the winning boat crewed by Frank Bushnell and Graham Alexandra weighing in an impressive 94lb.

Fishing news
It seems that September has arrived with a vengeance! Redlands has been producing lots of double figure Carp and plenty of 20's to 27lb just recently and one lucky angler had 10 Carp in an overnight session!(thanks go to Doug for all his baiting up over the previous weeks)
Southlake has been very busy with lots of multiple catches being reported and some big fish showing.
Some unusual captures of late as well, you may have noticed the eel caught by a member from Redlands the other day (catch report/gallery) well an eel of 5-6lb has been reported and also a turtle estimated at over 8lb! It would be good to see the photo's, you can send them in via the links on this site, and remember to check out the catch reports and galleries i've just updated them.

The Forum
We're glad to see that some of our members are making use of the forum. We don't recognize a lot of the names though, although I'm told most of them are pseudonyms.... We're glad to see that members are using it and look forward to seeing many more of you on there soon.

More success on Tippings
Another report from Graham Mayer who fished Friday evening and Saturday during the day catching a 15lb bag of small fish. Again these were caught from one of the swims near the Scouts hut, mainly rudd and a few skimmers and roach.

Tippings Lane Catches
A report from Graham Mayer who fished an evening session 0n TippingsLane recently. Graham had a 5lb net of roach and rudd on maggot and casters from one of the swims near to the scouts camp. Whilst fishing Graham saw a number of good carp moving in the weed and plenty of silver fish too.

Tackle Theft
I am sad to report the theft of an angler's tackle while on Southlake recently. Unfortunately the said angler had left his tackle (his rods were reeled in), on the bank whilst he went to watch a recent England game in the pub adjoining the lake. The tackle stolen was his rucksack containing the usual terminal tackle, scales, slings etc. If anybody has any information regarding this theft please e-mail us or speak to one of the bailiffs on the lake.

DEFRA Statement
The Environment Agency and the Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science (Cefas) are investigating outbreaks of Koi herpesvirus (KHV) disease at three stillwater fisheries in the South and East of England. (Read full statement here) Please take caution when returning to the societies waters after fishing other lakes to ensure that all nets and slings are disinfected / cleaned properly.

National Fishing Week
National Fishing Week is from 19th until 28th of August, and Southlake Angling Society are please to announce the first of many Junior Teach-In's. Spawning Fish
Reports from all three waters suggest that the fish are spawning again. Please take care of all fish that you catch, not just those that are spawn bound, by keeping them out of the water for as little time as nessecary.

Fish stocking
The Carp arrived this morning at Redlands. Thirty Carp with an average weight of 4lb 12oz were put into the main lake. If they grow like the others we've had you can expect some exciting sport over the coming years.
