SPRING 2009 NEWSLETTER
First things first the AGM has been moved to 7.30pm on the 22nd April due to the hall availability. Please bring your current permit with you to gain entry. The meeting is at The Oakwood centre, the same as the last couple of years.
SOUTHLAKE
CHARITY MATCH
I hope that everybody that took part this year enjoyed themselves. It was a great weekend and we raised over £1300.00. Great effort lads, well done! A big thank you to Mark, Tim and Doug, and not forgetting our winner Craig Beales, who not only out fished us all but arranged to feed us for the whole of the weekend as well. Top man cheers!
FIRST NIGHT DRAW SOUTHLAKE
The draw will be on Tuesday 9th June at 7.30pm at the Duck pond. Please contact me as names will be going in the hat this year, not permits.
THIS YEARS CHARITY MATCH
This will be held on the weekend of 11th -13th September. The draw this year will be done the week before, on Friday 4th September at the duck pond at 7.30pm. This will give everyone a chance to pre bait if they want to. Also this year whoever raises the most sponsorship will win a free permit for the next season. Please book early as spaces are limited.
REDLANDS
FENCING
The fence has been done and a good job as well. It took a bit longer than we had hoped but bad weather and further problems delayed work being done. Please refrain from hanging your gear on there whilst fishing, tempting as it is, we all want the fence to last as long as possible.
THE LANE
The lane is starting to show signs of wear and tear. Please drive slowly or we are going to have to take action to slow the traffic, sleeping policemen, speed cameras, a pace car, you get the idea…..
PAIRS CARP MATCH
The pairs carp match at Redlands will be held on the weekend of 22nd-24th May, again spaces are very limited so please book early.
AND FINALLY...
CONGRATULATIONS
Well dome to Frank Bushnell on winning the pike cup for the 3rd time. I will set the dates for the pike matches and let you know in due course.
LASER PENS
The use of laser pens on ALL society waters is banned forthwith under Byelaw 15 of your Rule Book. We cannot afford residents complaining to the police and the council.
BONFIRES
Members are reminded that no bonfires to be lit on Society waters as per Byelaw 2 of your Rule Book.
CLOSED SEASON
Redlands is open for the Closed Season as per normal, the new stock fish are doing well and are regularly putting in a leaping display for all those to see. Fishing has been slow due to the lack of members on there, however good multiple catches are being made. One angler managed 4 carp and 5 bream in 4 hours the Sunday before last, so they are obviously there for the catching. Well done Luca, we wont tell anyone you were fishing the Railway Bank, your secret is safe with us…….
