Rules

Southlake Angling Society Rules & Bye-Laws 2006/2007

 

  1. All members to take great care that they do not commit trespass, damage private or Club property and must adhere to the byelaws.
  2. No member will alter, damage or in any way change the swims, damage foliage, cut trees, light fires, pitch tents, leave litter of any description, dig for bait, discard line or hooks or anything of an injurious nature.
  3. Fishing may only take place by fair and proper means, i.e.: with rod and line only.
  4. No member shall take away from the waters any fish whatsoever, or place into the water any fish or spawn.
  5. No member shall fish at any one time with more than 2 rods and lines, both to be attended, this to include marker rods.  A third rod permit may be purchased allowing a 3rd rod to be used between 1st November and 31st March.
  6. No fishing of any nature will take place from midnight on the 14th March to midnight on the 15th June at Southlake or the river adjoinging Redlands.  6a. Any Southlake Angling Society water will be closed to fishing should it be deemed necessary.  Notices will be posted to this effect.      
  7. No fishing will take place from boats or by any other means that allow a person or persons to float above the water.
  8. Keepnets and Carp Sacks: Keepnets are to be to current Environment Agency Regulations.  Carp and Pike shall only be retained in approved Sacks, Tubers or Keepnets.  No fish to be retained for a period longer than 6 hours.
  9. No members of Guest-ticket holders shall sit or attempt to sit within 8 yards of any other member or Guest-ticket holder without their mutual consent.
  10. All members and guest-ticket holders will keep all gates closed and do nothing, which will enable livestock to escape.
  11. All animals brought to the Society’s waters by anglers to be kept under proper control.
  12. All members will, on demand, produce their current permit to the authorised persons or other members.
  13. Members NOT to take any vehicle on to land leased by the Society but to use Car Parks where provided.
  14. No JUNIOR MEMBER is allowed to night fish any of the Society’s waters between the hours of 7.00pm and 7.00am unless accompanied by an adult permit holder.  14a. Senior members shall be responsible, for no more than one junior, wile night fishing.  Junior members if fishing outside of the times 7.00am and 7.00pm must be accompanied by an adult when fishing Southlake Angling Society waters.  14b. Junior members are eligible for Senior Permits at 16 years of age, and will be on probationary period until 18 years of age.  Until then no supervision of any junior while night fishing is permitted.
  15. Night Fishing: Lights to be of such a nature as not to interfere with any other angler or member of the public.  All anglers night fishing to show every consideration to residents living nearby, i.e. No undue noise, slamming of car doors, etc.  15a.North bank at Southlake, fishing times are 7.00pm to 7.00am, i.e. night fishing only.
  16. Members are responsible for cleaning all litter from the swim they are fishing.  Any member found not doing so, will be considered by the Committee for expulsion from the Society.
  17. Guest Tickets: Members may on application to the Permit Secretary, be issued with Guest Tickets.  These are not available from March to August and 3 days notice must be given.
  18. No member shall use any form of gorge baits, hook or gaff.
  19. Radios, Cassette players and like equipment are banned from all Society waters.
  20. unattended Rods: Whenever members leave their swims, lines are to be removed from the water.  Failure to do so will incur a 3 month minimum ban.
  21. Redlands Water: No junior member is permitted to fish this water unless accompanied by, or under the supervision of a senior permit holder.
  22. The use of lead free weights to be governed by current Environment Agency regulations.
  23. Baits Banned: no nut baits to be used on Society waters.
  24. Unhooking mats must be used for Carp and Pike.
  25. Line strength of 8lb minimum to be used when fishing for Carp and Pike.
  26. Bait dropping boats are banned on Society waters.
  27. No weights to be used on Society waters, which are greater than 2oz.
  28. when Carp fishing on Southlake, apart from surface fishing, back leads must be used at all times.
  29. All free baits being put into a swim must be done so from the swim being fished.
  30. Members fishing Southlake and Redlands may only be permitted to fish for a maximum of 72 hours in any one session, and must vacate the water for 24 hours before returning to fish.
  31. These byelaws are subject to change in order to comply with Environment Agency Byelaws.
  32. Any member not certain of these byelaws or rules should contact a member of the Committee or a bailiff, before commencing to fish.
  33. Any member hooking a swan will be responsible to contact, Swan Rescue and a bailiff or Committee member immediately.  SWAN RESCUE No. 01753 859397
  34. Keepnets or Carp sacks are not to be used on the Society waters from 15th March to the 15th June.
  35. No excessive wading, above knee high, is allowed on Society waters.
  36. Fishing on the first night at Southlake will be by draw only; the Committee will issue the time and date of the draw.  Members wishing to enter the draw must be in possession of a new seasons permit.
  37. Match waters will be closed on the day of the match until 2 hours after the end of the match.
